I am greater than this
It's okay. Just breathe. The thing to remember is that you are a strong independent woman, a fighter that has always survived. This is just another survival chapter. You're going to start subbing, save everything you're worth, and quietly leave one day. You're going to take the GRE and follow the sun West to a life that's been waiting for you. There's no reason to be afraid. You'll make friends, don't worry. You'll do research and fall in love with academia. Then you'll meet someone wonderfully unexpected that will give you babied and more importantly want you to be part of his life and not just tolerate you because he thinks he's your savior. Remember, great things don't happen to people who never open the door.
